Horror con brings terror to Kingsport

The Smoky Mountain Terror convention will hold its fourth edition in Kingsport this August, bringing major names from horror cinema and other pop culture to town.

The show will feature guest appearances from icons of horror and B-movies, including “Machete” star and veteran actor Danny Trejo, original Michael Myers actor Nick Castle, and Linda Blair of The Exorcist fame. There will also be multiple cast members from popular series like Scream, The Last Drive-In and The Boys. Guests will be available for photo opportunities, signings and more.

A major festival event will be “Twilight After Dark”, featuring a panel discussion with stars of the popular vampire movies, and an adult-only after party. Smoky Mountain Terror will also include a marketplace area with vendors of collectors’ items, artists offering original work, and more. Exhibitors at events like this often use banner printing and other displays to help draw attention.

The convention offers a few different VIP options, allowing for early entry and the ability to skip lines. Some guests will be available for photos in their iconic costumes or with memorable props. Organizers also host annual conventions dedicated to anime and general popular culture, with the support of 8 Lug Circus.

The 2026 edition of Smoky Mountain Terror will take place from August 28 to 30 at the Meadowview Convention Center in Kingsport.
