Many Pawtucket music fans will be heading to Providence to enjoy the PVD (Providence) Cello Fest at the end of May.
PVD Cello Fest will be showcasing the cello's versatility by featuring educational workshops, and multi-genre performances.
On Friday, 30th May, the 134 Collaborative will have live performances of folk, improvised, experimental music, and alternative songs. Performers will include Isabel Castellvi, Sammy Wetstein, Cello Candy, Anna Kerber, EDT and Jake Sokolov. This performance will begin at 7:00 pm at Mathewson Street Church, 134 Mathewson Street, Providence.
For Saturday, 31st May the Providence Public Library, 150 Empire Street, will hold performances from 10:00 am through 3:30 pm. These will include a Grooving on strings through Celtic and American roots folk music jam session for all-level string players with Sammy Wetstein and Laura Cetilia, Andrei Baumann, Adrienne Taylor, and Kamyron Williams. A cello ensemble Red Velvet Vengeance will play Heavy Metal arrangements beginning at 12:35 am.
The Vox Hunters will be holding an old-time jam session at 1:00 pm and that will be followed by Steve Marotto at 2:00 pm. An ensemble of cellists and Tom Swafford's String Power will end the cello experience with jazz, pop and original material.
On Saturday evening at the 134 Collaborative, local cellists join Sammy Wetstein and the Vox Hunters for an evening of traditional folk music.
Music event organizers will often promote their events like this by going to nearby print shops and having flyer printing done.
