Hermitage holds holiday parade

Residents in Hermitage are looking forward to the 19th Annual Holiday Light Parade. The event is one of the biggest holiday events in town, offering cool floats and lights, and lots of good cheer.

The procession has typically drawn over 15,000 visitors to the streets of downtown, making it the one of the largest events in town. The city is encouraging businesses to join in the fun by keeping their shops open until after the parade and also by decorating their storefronts with lights, Holiday Cards, and decorations.

The parade will move through the heart of downtown, following State St. and proceeding down Rte. 18 to the entrance of the Shenango Valley Mall. This year prizes will be awarded based on creativity, originality, use of music and lights, and best representation of a holiday theme. Spots are still available for floats in the parade, and interested parties can access business Forms on the website to register for a space and provide media information. Throwing candy is prohibited for the event, and anyone wanting to use open-flame devices must get preapproval.

The 19th Annual Holiday Parade will be held on November 19 beginning at 6:00 pm in between the Hermitage Towne Plaza and the Shenango Valley Mall. The event is open to the public. Anyone interested in more information should visit the website.
