Hermitage fundraiser helps fill food bank shelves

A Hermitage fundraiser that will ask residents to keep their neighbors in need in mind this spring will be serving up a hearty meal while also celebrating the talents of local potters.

Hickory VFW Post 8166 will be opening its doors for the Hungry Bowls event, which will help to ensure the Mercer County Food Bank turns no one away. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door for $30 each.

People who support the fundraiser can dine on a simple meal of bread and soup, then take their handcrafted bowl home with them as a reminder to help others when they can. There will also be a basket raffle as well as a silent auction, and live entertainment and a cash bar are both in the works. An even-split draw will wrap up the occasion.

Several area businesses have stepped up to sponsor the activity, and the organizers are grateful for their assistance.

Creative marketing ideas can help any campaign to achieve success. A company that offers Graphic Design Services will be able to help.

The Hickory VFW, which is at 5550 East State Street in Hermitage, will host the Empty Bowl Fundraiser next Thursday, April 23 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Its web listing provides the most current information for anyone who would like to take part.
