Hermitage celebrates local art

The city of Hermitage is getting everything ready for their 2016 Hermitage Arts Festival. The two-day event celebrates creators, crafters, and performers of all stripes and the community in which they work.

There is no competitive aspect to the festival, just a showcase for local artists. No commercially items will be permitted at all during the show, so everything is guaranteed to be locally produced. Several different categories of art will be available at the event including traditional painting, photography, mixed media, sculpture, clay pottery, wood carving, metal working, jewelry, glass, and more. The artists will set their own price points for their items, and any visitor can buy an item at the fest.

The city is additionally taking applications for anyone interested in performing at the event. Any kind of musical, theatrical, or dance performance can be presented during the festival. There is also room for artists and crafters to make a demonstration of how they create their works. This presents an opportunity for makers of unique items to showcase their talents over and above the typical informational Brochures seen at such events.

The 2016 Hermitage Arts Festival will be held on July 9 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and July 10 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Rodney White Olympic Park on 800 N. Hermitage Rd. Admission is free to the public, and booths for artists cost $50. Anyone interested in showing their work can find an application at the website.
