Hermitage area tournament to help fight lung cancer

The organizers of a Hermitage area event have asked one and all to pitch in to help beat lung cancer by taking part in a local activity.

A cornhole tournament will be named in honor of Rodney Wellman, who was an area resident. He served many years as a Secret Service agent, and after he lost his battle to lung cancer, the Rodney Wellman Memorial Cornhole Tournament was set up in his memory, which raises funds to fight lung cancer and support those living with the disease.

The activity, slated to be held at 725 Pearson Street in New Castle, will be friendly competition and tickets start at $15. Food will be served along with beverages, and there will be a cash prize for the top three scoring teams. There will be both door prizes and raffle draws, and the proceeds from the day will be donated to the GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer.

One of the tasks frequently on the list for event planners is to order decor for an activity. A banner printing company will be pleased to help, and can provide a special graphic design for the occasion.

January 8 will see this fundraiser welcome registrants, and it will start at 1:00 pm. The tournament will run until 6:00 pm, and all who are interested are encouraged to gather their friends and sign up now.
