Solon to teach community about notable photojournalist

The Cuyahoga County Public Library will hold a Reader's Theatre performance at its Solon branch in January.

Those interested in learning about noteworthy war photographers can attend a presentation about Margaret Bourke-White. The event is led by Bette Lou Higgins, who will tell stories about Bourke-White through impersonation. The war photographer took photos of German concentration camps during World War II and documented the lives of Americans during the Depression. She went to Columbia University and took classes at the Clarence H. White School of Photography.

Higgins is the artistic director of Eden Valley Enterprises, an organization that specializes in living history programs. She attended many universities, including Baldwin-Wallace College, Inbound Marketing University, and Cleveland State University. She has been involved in publications like Battle Scars: Stories of The Civil War and Grandma Gatewood: Ohio's Legendary Hiker. Higgins has also created programs for the Steamship William G. Mather Museum and the Great Lakes Historical Society.

The Reader's Theatre on Margaret Bourke-White will be held on Wednesday, January 29 in the Solon library's meeting room. The event will last from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There is no age requirement to attend the show. All participants must register for Higgins' performance in advance. Libraries that host educational lectures like this can draw more attention to their shows with poster printing services.
