Solon will be hosting a cooking lesson for those with developmental disabilities in November.
Kerri’s Kitchen is a series of cooking activities where people impacted by developmental disabilities can learn to create tasty dishes in a safe and supportive environment. The dish for November will be Pumpkin Party Bread. Students in the program will learn several useful skills, including how to follow recipes, clean kitchens, and measure ingredients. The event will take place at the Senior Center, though the activity is open for those 16 and older.
The cooking event is part of the Solon Blue Ribbon Adapted Recreation Program, which is an organization committed to creating leisure and recreation activities for people with developmental disabilities. The events offered in the Blue Ribbon program are available to residents and non-residents of Solon. Other activities hosted by the group include golf clinics, line dancing, and outdoor strolls. The organization also hosts meetings such as the Let’s Talk Books group.
The cooking class will take place on Sunday, November 13 from 2:00 pm to 3:15 pm. At least four students must participate in the event, and the maximum number of participants for the course is six. Tickets can be bought for $12 per person, and registration for the lesson will close on November 6. Cities that offer community programming such as this may use banner printing to promote their classes to locals.
