Solon families can take part in science experiments at their local library in October to celebrate National Chemistry Week.
The Cuyahoga County Public Library has a few activities planned to celebrate the American Chemical Society’s National Chemistry Week. Students in grades two to six are invited to partake in a fun program titled Fabulous Fibers: The Chemistry of Fabrics. In addition to the in-person activity, the library will also host a virtual competition where kids can conduct a messy experiment for a chance to win cash prizes. The largest prize available is $100.
The American Chemical Society is a nonprofit group that was founded in 1876. The group is a worldwide science organization with more than 150,000 members and over 200 branches. The society publishes authoritative scientific information and helps its members advance their careers. The Cleveland branch of the group hosts monthly meetings and is affiliated with organizations such as the National Association of Scientific Materials Managers.
The in-person science experiment will be held on Saturday, October 22nd from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. The activity will be messy, so participants should dress accordingly for the library’s program. Registrations for the live and online experiments must be completed by September 30th. Science organizations that promote activities such as this may use poster printing to get more children interested in the experiments.
