Buttercream & Olive Oil will be holding a class in Medina about olive oil at Richardson Farms this June.
The Olive Oil Discovery Class is a program that teaches students about the function and taste of olive oil. The lesson will use a mix of sweet and savory recipes to show participants how to cook and bake with the ingredient. The dishes students will make during the course include Lolo's Famous Black Tapenade Omelet, Marshmallow Crème with Olive Oil, and a Salted Chocolate Olive Oil Cake. All the recipes in the class are gluten-free, though a French baguette will be served with the meal.
Buttercream & Olive Oil is an organization created by Jennifer Thornton that offers virtual and in-person culinary classes. Thornton was among the top 100 contestants on France's first season of MasterChef. She also founded Local Abundance Kitchen in 2017, which is a non-profit that offers cooking lessons taught by immigrants and refugees. Thornton's classes cover topics such as Sicilian street foods and savory puff pastry dishes.
The olive oil lesson will be on Saturday, June 3 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The cost to register for Thornton's course is $75 per person. Those who are gluten-free can bring their own bread or crackers to have at the meal. Cooking schools that offer activities like this may use poster printing for advertising their lessons to local consumers.
