Fair on the way to Medina County

It is almost time for the annual Medina County Fair, the 172nd time for the event, and people around the area are looking forward to a week of fun.

One of this year’s highlights will be a grandstand concert by two famous country artists - Gary Allan and his guests, the Brothers Osborne. They will appear about halfway through the run of the fair.

The grandstand concerts were very popular with fairgoers, but were not held the last two years. In 2015, the scheduled performer canceled shortly before the fair, while last year organizers were not able to secure a nationally famous act. This year, according to Pam Oberholtzer, the chair of the publicity committee, everything fell into place and the popular concerts are back.

Also returning are karaoke and talent contests, which are proven crowd-pleasers. People can also enjoy an array of live music from bands like The Diamond Project (a Neil Diamond tribute band) and Sobos (which plays classic rocks). Of course, there will be all kinds of food available.

The fair starts July 31, at 8:00 am, and runs through August 6, at the Medina County Fairgrounds on West Smith Road in Medina. The concert is on August 3 at 8:00 pm.

Events like this can benefit if organizers work with a flyer printing company to create a handout for fair attendees. The handout can list events, and where to find specific exhibits and contests.
