Annual running event to return to Medina

This spring, the 2021 Medina Half Marathon is scheduled to return to the community.

The 2021 Medina Half Marathon is a part of the Medina Runs Down Cancer series. In past years, hundreds of participants have taken part, running or walking the half marathon course. Proceeds earned from the race contribute to local charities and non-profit organizations.

Since the 2020 event was cancelled, runners who registered for the race last year are eligible to participate this year. New participants can register online for $65. Participants who wish to walk the half marathon instead of running can sign up for $50. For runners who are more comfortable taking part on their own schedules, the virtual option is priced at $40 per individual.

Packet pickups will be available on the day prior to the half marathon between 3:00 pm and 7:30 pm at the Summa Health Medina Medical Center. The event will proceed as a drive thru in which visitors must remain in their vehicles while volunteers hand them their race packets. All participants must wear masks when picking up their race items. The hosts of local races frequently invest in flyer printing to distribute physical materials to participants that summarize race details, locations, and rules.

The Medina Half Marathon is set to be hosted at the Historic Medina Square on Saturday, May 29 at 6:00 am.
