Colerain police department to give training course
The Colerain Township Police Department will be hosting a class in October about investigating homicides.
Aimed at professionals, the Southern Police Institute (SPI) Homicide Investigation course is a program where students can learn the necessary skills for conducting competent death investigations. Several topics will be taught in the class, like preparing testimonies for court, law enforcement tools, and recognizing bloodstain patterns. The course also teaches criminal profiling techniques and how to reconstruct certain types of crime scenes. Each segment of the program will be led by an expert, and students will get to have one-on-one interactions with the professionals.
SPI is an organization founded at the University of Louisville in 1951. The concept of the institute was developed by Gunnar Myrdal, a Swedish economist who mentioned the idea of opening a modern police college in his book titled An American Dilemma. There are many continuing education courses offered by the organization, including Leadership for the Law Enforcement Executive and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design.
The class will be from October 9 to 20, and each session of the course will be from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The cost of the program is $1,375 per person. The class is intended for law enforcement officers, supervisors, and other officials who are involved in homicide investigations. Courses like this can be promoted to the educator’s target audiences by using flyer printing services.
