Astronomer to visit Colerain library
Colerain residents can attend a space-themed activity at the Groesbeck Library in November led by Dean Regas.
Meteorite Night is a program where people can learn about meteorites from Dean Regas, an author, astronomer, and experienced presenter. The program will feature meteorites from Regas’ collection, which includes rocks from the moon and Mars. Attendees will learn more about how meteorites are formed in space, and Regas will explain how he collects the rocks. Guests are allowed to touch the collection and will be shown how to differentiate between meteorites and regular rocks.
Dean Regas is a professional astronomer who has worked for the Cincinnati Observatory and was the co-host of Star Gazers on PBS. He has written for several publications, including Here & Now, the Sky and Telescope Magazine, and Astronomy Magazine. Regas wrote several books, such as How to Teach Grown-Ups About Pluto and 100 Things to See in the Night Sky. Organizations can book Regas to give presentations on topics like the solar system, astronomy conspiracy theories, and stars.
The library’s meteorite program will be on Wednesday, November 6th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There is no cost to attend Regas’ presentation, and all ages are welcome to the space-themed lecture. Guests will not need to reserve their spots in advance. Libraries that invite special guest speakers may use poster printing to advertise their lectures to patrons.
