Colerain library to connect local chiefs with community

The Groesbeck Branch Library will hold an event in April where people can meet with two leaders from the Colerain Township.

Coffee with the Chiefs is an event that lets locals interact with the chiefs of the Colerain Township Fire Department and Colerain Police Department. Allen Walls is in charge of the fire department, and Ed Cordie is the current chief of the Colerain police. Walls has been a fire chief for 27 years and went to school at the Union Institute & University. Cordie was an officer who started working for the Colerain Police Department in 2008 and was promoted to chief in 2022.

The Coffee with the Chiefs program initially started as a community event called Coffee with a Cop. The program is a monthly event where people can talk directly with community leaders and ask questions about the issues impacting their neighborhoods. The program has been held at many local venues, including the Sweetheart Cafe, Frank’s Diner, and the Clippard YMCA.

The meeting will be held on Friday, April 26th from 10:00 am to noon. There is no cost to attend the discussion, and registration isn’t needed. All ages are invited to meet and chat with the chiefs. Libraries that hold community meetups similar to this may use poster printing services to make advertisements they can post on their bulletin boards.
