Colerain holds Give Back day
Colerain is gearing up for a day of community service and local organizations are on the lookout for volunteers as part of ‘Community Give Back Day’.
One local group, People Working Cooperatively, is looking for people who can perform home repairs to help homeowners in the area. Potential repairs might include raking leaves, pouring cement for walkways and sidewalks, or fixing up gutters. In all, the organization is hoping to get around 50 people to help out.
Local organizations who are looking for volunteers for events can use flyer printing to get the word out and to help people figure out what they can do. People Working Cooperatively is particularly looking for helpers who have some experience performing home repairs or maintenance tasks.
Crews of volunteers will spend the day assisting elderly and low-income homeowners who have disabilities. According to the organization's director of corporate and community partnerships, Ron Henlein, Community Give Back Day is an opporutnity for both local businesses and individuals to help out their neighbors.
Along with fixing out the exterior of homes, volunteers might be asked to instead grab bar and handrails in the interiors of homes, which coincides with a fall prevention program currently promoted by the Colerain WeThrive initiative and the Colerain Township Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services.
‘Community Give Back Day’ is scheduled for this Saturday, September 9. People interested in volunteering can sign up online.
