Colerain celebrates the season of giving
People interested in helping local children in need can drop off toys at several spots throughout the city this month.
Since Nate's Toy Box was founded, a number of businesses and schools, as well as individuals in Colerain, have donated their time, money or toys to help those in need enjoy presents under the tree and a holiday meal. The donations from the community keep overhead expenses for the charity low, according to Pam Schroeder.
Gary and Pam Schroeder set up Nate's Toy Box. Created to preserve the memory of their son, who passed away in 2005, the charity focuses on helping children in need, providing toys to children during the holiday season.
Digital business cards can help the Schroeders connect with interested parties throughout Colerain. So far, businesses who have helped out the charity include Target, Toys R Us, the Triple Creek Retirement Center, and White Oak Gardens.
Drop-off locations include the White Oak Garden Center, TAG's Cafe, and the Clippard YMCA. Donated toys should be new, unwrapped and appropriate for children up to age 12. The organizers ask that donations be worth less than $25. Gift cards are accepted, but stuffed animals are not. Donations are accepted through December 12.
There will also be a reception and toy drop off event on December 11, from 6:30 to 8:30pm at the Grosebeck United Methodist Church.
