Colerain book club to discuss urban fiction

Those in Colerain who enjoy urban fiction can attend a virtual book club in March organized by the Cincinnati Public Library.

The Virtual Urban Fiction Book Club meets throughout the year to discuss different novels and meet with other fans of the urban fiction genre. The club offers a safe space for people to give their opinions on the book of the month. The novel for March will be The Reluctant King. Libraries in charge of fiction discussion groups like this can advertise their meetings with posters made by print shops.

The Reluctant King is a novel written by K’wan and published by Akashic Books in 2021. The story is about the struggles that occur when crime boss Chancellor King decides to distance himself from illegal activities to gain more political power. Drama ensues as the family selects who takes their father’s place. K’wan has received awards for his work in the past, like the 2012 and 2013 Street Lit Book Award Medals.

The Virtual Urban Fiction Book Club will discuss The Reluctant King on Thursday, March 31st, and the conversation will last from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The group will also get together on May 26th, July 28th, September 29th, and November 17th to discuss other books. A list of the upcoming novels can be found on the club’s event page.
