Colerain area firm donates more than 1,500 pairs of shoes
For the third year in a row, Phillippi-Whitney Communications has partnered with Sibcy Cline Mortgage Services to give back to its community.
The pair of companies put together a project named ‘Sweet Soles for Love’ that aimed to collect 500 pairs of shoes for foster children in the Colerain, Cincinnati, Dayton, Southeastern Indiana, and Northern Kentucky areas.
The number of donations they received exceeded their initial goal. They ended up collecting three times as many shoes as they set out to, bringing in 1,500 pairs instead of just 500. Employees at Sibcy Cline pooled their money together and were able to donate 50 pairs.
Area organizations that wish to participate in donation drives and fundraisers can use marketing services to spread the word to their client base and to others in the community.
The idea for the donation program came about three years ago. Julie Whitney, from Phillippi-Whitney Communications, learned that foster children who were moving from home to home in Virginia had nothing to carry their belongings in except for a trash bag.
The firm launched ‘Cases for Love’, which collected suitcases for foster kids in the county. The goal was to collect 1,200 suitcases. Around 10,000 ended up being donated. Sicby Cline Mortgage Services got involved by having its 22 locations serve as drop-off locations.
The next year, the firms ran a ‘Gloves for Love’ collection, and ended up donating 6,800 pairs of mittens and gloves, and scarves, to foster kids.
