Solar energy organization to give Avon Lake talk

Solar United Neighbors (SUN) will discuss how to use solar energy during a presentation held at the Avon Lake Public Library next month.

Solar Energy 101 is an event where people can learn how to use this sustainable form of energy. The lecture is part of the library’s year-long Environmentally Speaking series, which is a program co-presented by the Avon Lake’s Environmental Affairs Advisory Board and Avon Lake Public Library. Topics covered in the series reflect the concerns of Avon Lake residents. Tristan Radar is the presenter of the program. He works for SUN as the Ohio Program Director and is part of the Lakewood City Council.

SUN is a national nonprofit group that represents the needs of solar panel owners and supporters. The organization started in 2007 and was initially known as the Mt. Pleasant Solar Cooperative. The group has helped more than 9,000 people set up solar power systems and has created over 1,500 jobs. The executive director of SUN is Anya Schoolman, and the chief operating officer is Angela DeMonbreun.

The presentation on solar energy will be held on Tuesday, July 9 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Guests interested in attending Radar’s lecture must register in advance. Libraries that offer similar educational presentations can use flyer printing services to help promote their events to patrons.
