What's Happening in Avon Lake, OH…

Avon Lake gardening club to discuss pest management

A gardening club will visit the Avon Lake Public Library in February to teach the community about controlling garden pests.

The Beauty of Balance is an educational program where attendees can learn how to manage the pests in their gardens. The advice in the presentation will teach people about getting rid of unwanted creatures and diseases without causing significant damage to the environment. The program will be taught by the Avon on the Lake Garden Club, a volunteer organization that is part of the National Garden Clubs and is a member of the Holden Forests and Gardens organization.

The Avon on the Lake Garden Club is a group that was formed in 1930 to promote home gardening, floral design, and participation in environmental conservation. Many local gardens are maintained by the club, like the Fence Garden at Peter Miller House, the Old Firehouse Pollinator Garden, and the Ozone Garden at the Avon Lake Public Library. The group also has many projects, such as Bags for Beds, BeeGap, and Release Butterflies, Not Balloons.

The presentation on environmentally friendly pest control methods will be on Thursday, February 6th from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The program is intended for adults and will take place in the Waugaman Gallery. There is no ticket price for this presentation. Libraries that host educational programs by local clubs like this may use printing services to promote their events.
