Avon Lake to organize special holiday event
The Avon Lake Recreation Department will hold a two-day seasonal program at Veteran's Memorial Park.
The Light Up the Park Holiday Celebration is a community event where people can enjoy the holidays by participating in themed family-friendly activities. The Lake House at Veteran's Memorial Park will be turned into Santa's Workshop, a venue where visitors can receive cookies and hot chocolate. Children can also write letters to Santa at the workshop and turn them in for speedy delivery. Families who want to meet and take photos with Santa must register in advance.
The holiday celebration will feature several activities for families, such as visiting the Wild Hooves Petting Zoo. There will also be live performances from the Avon Lake Presbyterian Carolers. Guests at the event can watch ice sculpture demonstrations and look at seasonal decorations throughout the park. People may purchase food during the event from Cheesy Dave's, a food truck that serves items like gourmet mac & cheese, burgers, and sandwiches.
The Light up the Park Holiday Celebration will be on Friday, December 6th from 6:00 pm to 9:15 pm. Families can visit with Santa on Friday, December 6th and Saturday, December 7th. Those who want photos with Santa can pay $45 per family. Towns that organize community holiday experiences such as this may use poster printing to share information about their events with local consumers.
