Avon Lake to hold total eclipse watch party

The City of Avon Lake will organize a viewing party at the Avon Lake High School Memorial Stadium in April for the upcoming total eclipse.

The 2024 Avon Lake Total Solar Eclipse Watch Party is a community event where people can watch a fascinating natural phenomenon in a safe environment. The last solar eclipse that could be seen from Ohio was in 1806, and the next eclipse after this one is predicted to be in 2444. Each guest will receive special eclipse glasses for the event, and there will be a dedicated telescope observation area in the stadium.

There will also be several activities to enjoy at the solar eclipse event. Attendees can listen to performances by local bands like Audiophile and Follow the Sun. Part of the Avon Lake High School Memorial Stadium will be converted into a play area for kids. Many local vendors will attend the event, and food can be bought from on-site food trucks.

The total eclipse watch party will take place on Monday, April 8 from 8:00am to 5:30pm. Admission can be bought for $15. The activity is open to residents and non-residents of Avon Lake. Blankets can be brought inside the stadium, but personal chairs are not allowed in the venue. Communities that host public activities like this may use printing services to advertise their parties.
