Avon Lake run to raise funds for local student programs

Sewa International will hold a race in September to support the ASPIRE program at Weiss Field in Avon Lake.

Run for Sewa is an event where runners can compete for awards while supporting local students. The proceeds earned at the race will go to ASPIRE Tutoring & Mentorship, which is a program that aims to raise graduation rates for Cleveland children. Participants will get light snacks and beverages after the competition, and the first 150 registrants for the activity will get a complimentary shirt. Competitors with the best running times will receive medals.

Sewa International is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 2003, though the movement behind the group began in 1989. The foundation hosts several fundraising campaigns for causes like landslide victims and areas impacted by hurricanes. The organization has helped more than a million students and given vocational training to over 25,000 people. Arun Kankani is the president of Sewa International, and Bhaskar Enaganti is the group’s director of technology.

The fundraising race will be held on Sunday, September 22nd at 9:00 am. People can pay $25 to join the fundraiser’s 5K or 1-mile run. Students will receive discounts on their registration. The cost of the race increases after September 18th. Participants can pick up their packets at 7:30 am. Nonprofits that host similar races may use printing services to make advertisements for their causes.
