Avon Lake golf event to raise money for memorial fund
The Gavin D. Lux Memorial Fund will be organizing a golf activity in September at the Sweetbriar Golf Club in Avon Lake.
The 2023 Memorial Golf Outing is an event that raises awareness for suicide prevention and supports local athletes.
The outing will feature two days of activities. The first part of the event will include dinner at the Sweetbriar Golf Club Pavillion provided by the Manna Food Truck and Cleveland Cookie Dough Food Truck. The second day will be an 18-hole golf scramble. Participants will receive a boxed lunch and can mingle at the pre-game Bloody Mary/mimosa bar.
The Gavin D. Lux Memorial Fund was created to promote suicide awareness and support students going to Westlake High School and Elmhurst University. Members of the organization participate in events such as walks hosted by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The group’s memorial scholarship is for students who are senior athletes and demonstrate superior character. The fund was first established in 2021 at Elmhurst University.
The memorial golf outing will be held on Saturday, September 16 and Sunday, September 17. The cost of the group dinner is $48 per person, and the price for the golf activity is $110 per person.
