What's Happening in Patchogue, NY…

Zoom painting event to help those with Alzheimer's

This March, Patchogue residents will get to enjoy a virtual painting class called Mindfulness Landscape Painting.

The session is presented as part of the Alzheimer’s Association Long Island Chapter’s Caring Connections series of social engagement programs for those facing Alzheimer's, held every second Wednesday of the month.

The Chapter serves Nassau and Suffolk County, providing support, education, and resources to people facing Alzheimer's and their primary caregivers. Its support program Caring Connections provides virtual social engagement for those in the early stages of Alzheimer’s, offering a relaxed, physically distanced way to develop and nurture social connections in a COVID-19 world.

The March event will be a live guided art class held over Zoom. The class will be centered around promoting mindfulness and teaching participants to paint landscapes. The event will be an opportunity for those with Alzheimer’s to connect with others facing the same struggles and learn a new skill in a casual atmosphere.

The Mindfulness Landscape Painting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 10, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Pre-registration is required to attend. To learn how to register, those interested can call the 24/7 Helpline at (800) 272-3900 or visit the organizer’s website.

Even for virtual events such as this, organizers sometimes choose to utilize print shops specializing in flyer printing to help spread the word of event specifics.
