Patchogue sails into holidays
The Christmas season is coming soon, and Santa will be coming to town – as he has for the last 25 years – on the last boat in this year’s Christmas Holiday Parade of Boats.
Thousands of Patchogue families are expected to turn out to welcome him. This year’s theme for the parade is ‘A Cartoon Christmas’.
Crowds will be viewing the parade and enjoying live music and DJs at the Davis Park Ferry Terminal at Sandspit Park and at the Watch Hill Terminal at FINS. Other spectators will be viewing the procession at various waterfront restaurants.
Practically all the decorated boats can be viewed at the free preview the evening before the parade. Everyone will get the opportunity to vote for their favorite entries for the ‘People’s Choice’ award. Winners in contests like this one enjoy taking pictures of their boats in all their Christmas finery to local print shops for poster printing. The evening will also include live music, and everyone can enjoy holiday movies on the huge outdoor screen.
Preview Night will be this Saturday, November 17, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Off Key Tikki Marina, 31 Baker Place.
The 25th Annual Christmas Holiday Parade of Boats will be this Sunday evening, November 18, starting around 6:00 pm and winding down around 9:00 pm. The Captain’s Breakfast will start the same morning at 10:00 am.
