Patchogue parades its way into the holidays
Patchogue celebrates the holiday season with two parades in November.
The first one will come on November 24 as Patchogue Chamber of Commerce presents its 26th annual Patchogue River Holiday Boat Parade. Dozens of decorated vessels will light up the river as they float passed the Patchogue Riverfront, Sandspit Park, and Watch Hill terminal at FINS from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm celebrating the upcoming holiday season. The theme will be “A Pirate Christmas.”
A preview night will be Saturday, November 23 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Off Key Tikki Marina. This is a chance for everyone to get a good look at each craft and vote for their favorite.
On Saturday, November 30, Patchogue will hold its 57th annual Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm. This year’s theme will be “Miracle on Main Street.” Ronald McDonald, scouts, carolers, floats, twirlers, firetrucks, and marching bands will step off at West Avenue and go east on Main Street to route 112. Antique Truck and Car clubs will be driving their prize vehicles.
Children can write letters to Santa and elves will pick them up along the parade route. They need to include stamped, self-addressed envelopes so Santa can respond. Mr. Claus himself has also asked the children to write a separate holiday greeting for U.S. soldiers. Parents and adults that wish to write their holiday messages to the troop often stop by local stationery printers to order appropriate notecards.
