Patchogue kids to learn cooking and kitchen safety
Next month, Just Like Mom’s Kitchen & Confections will host a month-long cooking program called the Children’s Cooking Classes to teach Patchogue kids cooking essentials and kitchen safety.
Just Like Mom’s Kitchen & Confections is a catering company in East Patchogue that specializes in homestyle cooking and delivery services for everything from school lunch programs to party kits. The company also hosts cooking and food-related events, such as July’s cooking program aimed at teaching kids how to cook different dishes while also learning the importance of kitchen safety.
The program will take place on Thursdays in July and will feature a different topic and dish for each of the five weeks. Examples of topics to be discussed include handwashing basics and a kitchen tools overview, cross contamination issues and sanitizing protocols, and the Clean As You Go (CAYGO) method. Food demonstrations include Dorito tacos, home-made pizza, rainbow fruit roll-ups, and spaghetti. The class will include a binder filled with recipes, food safety visual aids, and take-home activities.
