What's Happening in Patchogue, NY…

Patchogue goes Italian

The 51st Patchogue Italian Festival is coming early in September. The event will be hosted by the Greater Patchogue Foundation’s Cultural Heritage Committee.

The traditional procession will start the fest. The festival will honor Louis Lucian Giordano as the 2018 Italian-American of the Year. Mr. Giordano and his wife Antoinette will officiate at the parade and be feted in the official ceremony afterward.

After that downtown Patchogue will be a buzz with Italian and classic cars on display and the “Vine in the Village Wine Walk.” Children will get their own karaoke area, bouncy houses and a dunk tank. A magician and a jester will be entertaining the crowd along with live entertainment thanks to Think BIG Theater Arts.

Live music will be the Giglio Italian Marching Band, Tony Grant, and Nino-singing songs made famous by Frank Sinatra and some of Mr. Sinatra’s friends. Other performers will be Italian singer, Carmelo Raccuglia and John Sirianni and Killing Time.

The annual bocce ball tournament will take place at the Patchogue-Medford Carnegie Library’s Teen Center.

Original fine art, quality merchandise and handmade crafts will be available for purchase. Local organizations at events like these will often get banner printing done to hang banners on their information booths.

The Patchogue Italian Festival will be Saturday, September 8th from noon until 6 pm in downtown Patchogue, 15 North Ocean Avenue. The parade will begin at the Suffolk County District Court. The Teen Center is located at 160 W. Main.
