What's Happening in Patchogue, NY…

Patchogue comedy club to teach comedic basics

Next month, the Gateway Comedy Club in Patchogue will host the Stand-Up Comedy Class to teach people how to perform in a professional arena.

The workshop will be five weeks long and will explore the basics of stand-up comedy, sharing helpful techniques to get out of a comedy rut or writer's block. Both people completely new to comedic stand-up and those who have experience but may have become rusty are welcome to attend.

The series of classes will feature individualized instruction to fit each attendees’ learning goals. The two main instructors will be Rob Cioffi, who has 15 years of stand-up experience under his belt and has opened for national headliners like Al Lubel and Bob Nelson, and Mike Dillon, who has performed on prestigious stages such as Borgota in Atlantic City and is the founder of Gateway Comedy Club. Each class will be around two and a half to three hours.

Organizers of workshops like this often include printed learning materials as part of classroom instruction, and may require the help of local brochure printing companies.

The Gateway Comedy Club Stand-Up Class is scheduled to begin on April 3. Each weekly class will meet at 1:30 pm for five weeks. Gateway Comedy Club at Harbor Crab is located on 116 Division Street, Patchogue. Workshop registration is $295 in total.
