Patchogue celebrates the green with 5k and parade
Patchogue will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day a little late this year with the May the Road Rise to Meet Ye 5k and the town’s annual St. Patrick’s Parade coming the weekend after March 17th.
Rain or shine, the May the Road Rise to Meet Ye 5K will kick off the festivities along Main Street Sunday morning March 22nd at 11:00 am. Registration on race day will be $30 and pre-registration is $25.
Leprechaun green t-shirts sporting the event graphic design will be available for pre-registrants. Runners and joggers may pick up packets or register at 208 East Main Street at finest Fitness starting at 9:30 am on race day. The race will start and end on Rider Avenue. Proceeds will go to the Greater Patchogue Foundation which funds the parade and other community projects and celebrations.
Awards will be presented to the first law enforcement officer, “Most Irish Looking,” and leading male and female overall. The first three male and female contestants in each age bracket will also receive prizes.
At 12:30 pm the two-hour annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will begin its procession along Main Street. The theme this year is “All Roads Meet in Patchogue.” This year the parade will be headed by Dennis Smith, one of Patchogue’s local business improvement leaders.
