Patchogue 80s pop event to benefit the arts
The Patchogue Arts Council hosts the Video Killed the Radio Star: PAC 80s Party next month to celebrate 1980s pop music videos and raise money for the organization.
The Patchogue Arts Council is a non-profit organization that endeavors to help the arts in the community by nurturing artists whatever their career stage might be, and providing the public with quality arts access and education. Its exhibition space is located in the Museum of Contemporary Arts Long Island (MoCA L.I.).
The Video Killed the Radio Star even will feature a curated selection of music videos from 1980 to 1990. The artform of creating short visual narratives of popular music began in the UK in the 1970s and ignited a revolution when MTV was launched, changing the way music fans consumed popular music. Organizers of the event encourage attendees to dress in their best 80s attire, as there will also be a costume contest for best dressed.
Media exhibitions like this will often get advertised on posters, which can make locals shops specializing in poster printing an attractive option for organizers of such events.
The ‘80s video night is scheduled for January 13, beginning at 5:30 pm. It will take place at Toast Coffeehouse at 46 E Main Street, Patchogue. Tickets are priced at $35 for members and $40 for non-members.
