Boating safety course to sail into Patchogue
For two Saturdays in April, Patchogue Bay Power Squadron and America’s Boating Club (ABC) will be hosting a boating safety course for any local enthusiasts.
For over a century, America’s Boating Club has provided boating education and safety courses to help make boating a safer activity. The Patchogue Bay Power Squadron is one of the ABC Squadrons covering District 3 of New York. April's classes will mark the return of ABC’s in-person boating classes after being suspended due to the pandemic.
Presented in two segments, the first boating safety class will go over the fundamentals of the course, including an introduction to boating and boating equipment. It will also focus on topics such as navigation, boating law, and the guidelines for hunting, fishing, water skiing, and river boating. The second class will be a review and the exam portion. After successfully passing the exam, attendees will receive the NYS Certification.
Stationery printers may be useful for events like this if organizers wish to create information packets to hand out to students to go along with class instruction.
The two classes are scheduled for April 17, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and April 24, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. It is $75 to register, which includes both classes. Instruction will take place at the Long Island Maritime Museum.
