Zumba fundraiser to raise money for cancer research near Levittown

Dance lovers and Levittown residents looking for a fun way to stay active will want to dust off their boogie shoes, as a Zumba fundraiser is scheduled nearby.

The Angiosarcoma Zumba Fundraiser is bringing talented instructors together to provide a dance session at a local high school, in an effort to raise money for cancer research. Participants will have several hours to learn new dances and participate in raffles with opportunities to win prizes.

The money will benefit Angiosarcoma research to combat the aggressive soft tissue disease and improve identification and prognosis. The Zumba session will be held in memory of Andrew C. DeMarco to shine a light on the forgotten form of cancer. Flyer printing is a fantastic way to bring communities together to support such fundraisers and initiatives.

Liz Lewis and other Plainedge High School teachers and staff members are working together with the foundation to ensure the dance session moves forward as planned. Area resident Melanie Goldberg is responsible for bringing in the lineup of instructors. Event organizers are also looking for donations of baskets as raffle prizes and interested parties can contact Goldberg for more details.

The Zumba dance session will be held at Plainedge High School in Massapequa on Saturday, March 1, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. General admission tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased online.
