Fledgling and veteran farmers, along with tomato lovers, will certainly not want to miss the Tomato Contest being held at Hicks Nurseries in Westbury, New York this month.
For the 17th year in a row, Hicks Nurseries will be handing out prizes to all kinds of tomato entries. Children are especially encouraged to participate. They can enter the main contest, but children aged 12 and under who have grown their own tomatoes will also receive certificates for participating, no matter how highly their tomato places.
Tomatoes will receive prizes in the categories of ‘Largest Circumference’, ‘Tiniest Red Tomato’, ‘Heaviest Red Tomato’, and ‘Most Unusual Tomato’. Tomatoes can only win in one category. All entries must be ripe and cannot have been frozen at any point.
Hicks Nurseries is a landscape design company that has been in business for 160 years. It specializes in enhancing gardens and sharing its knowledge on different plants.
The promoters for this event may want to hire printing companies to create advertising Flyers or Posters to draw in more attendees. Distributing marketing materials in nearby areas like Levittown would no doubt help in doing that.
