New principal chosen for Levittown school

Levittown School District has completed the hiring process for one of its high schools.

Joseph Sheehan will soon be starting in his new position as principal of Macarthur High School. He has served in the role of vice principal there since 2007. Before that, he was the Health Coordinator and Dean of Students at Intermediate School 318 with the New York City Department of Education.

Sheehan remarked that he was pleased to have been able to serve in the role of vice principal, and is proud and honored to have been chosen as the successful candidate for the new job.

He also noted that students and staff at the school have a very strong work ethic, and that he will strive to ensure that this remains the case. He also feels that it is an incredible place to work or receive an education, and he looks forward to steering a course that will continue in this vein. Sheehan attended Long Island University Southampton College, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in social science. After that, he was a student at LIU Brooklyn, where was granted a Master’s degree in exercise physiology. Along with that, he holds a certification in school administration and supervision, which he obtained from Queens College.
