Long Island restaurants offering special deals

To celebrate its new look and grand reopening, a local restaurant will be offering diners a special deal whereby they can order a quarter pound burger and soda combination for $2.

The Friendly's in East Meadow, Long Island, first opened for business in 1976. It recently closed for a facelift and is scheduled to reopen at the end of July.

Restaurants that are celebrating a grand reopening can use postcard printing to let area diners know about the opening date, and to broadcast any specials on offer.

The renovation of the East Meadow Friendly's is part of an initiative by the company to improve people's dining experience and to reposition the brand for the 21st Century. Along with classic Friendly's menu items such as the SuperMelt sandwiches and Fishamajig, the restaurant will be introducing a number of new menu options.

The East Meadow Friendly's will not be the only restaurant in the chain celebrating its grand reopening. Other Friendly's locations on Long Island will also be offering the $2 quarter pound burger and soda combo. The restaurant in Levittown will be among them, as well as locations in Baldwin, Commack, East Islip, Mineola, and Shirley, among others.

The offer runs from July 27 until August 2. The East Meadow restaurant is located at 1826 Hempstead Turnpike, with the Levittown location is located at 3287 Hempstead Turnpike.
