Local fish firms hoping for seasonal sushi boost

With turkey the number one meal for many folks at this time of the year, a novel new idea from the Long Island fish and seafood industry is hoping to tempt people in.

The arrival of Thanksgiving and Holiday Season has traditionally been a struggle for seafood eateries, sushi restaurants, and other fish firms. However, with the help of flyer printing no doubt, and a little invention, Levittown fish restaurants could be joining up with other maritime meal vendors to tackle the issue.

Statistics have shown that, in the past, such fishy food outlets can see a downturn in business of 70% or more. However, the fight is on to claim back trade, with nearby Peter's Clam Bar in Island Park unveiling a turkey sushi roll.

Launched on Wednesday, November 26, just a day before the big day itself and in plenty of time for Holiday Season, the seafood restaurant hopes to reverse its fortunes this year.

Well-cooked of course, the turkey roll contains all of the usual fine accompaniments, such as sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce, that families are used to tucking into at this time of year.

With the move likely to be followed closely by other seafood eateries across the country, the popular restaurant is hoping it will appeal to folks wanting to try something different.
