Levittown student musicians invited to All-County Festival

A number of students from a couple of high schools in Levittown were recently chosen to perform at the Nassau Music Educators Association All-County Festivals.

Students were selected from Division Avenue High School and MacArthur High School. The selection process was based on students' scores on the New York State School Music Association test, on evaluations of students' solo performance during regional music festivals, and on teacher recommendations. The schools could use Stationery printing to produce certificates to give to each of the chosen musicians.

The students picked to perform at the All-County Festival range from members of the band, orchestra, and choirs. Vocalists from Division Avenue High include Victoria Baquet, an alto from the women's chorus; Paul Klein, a bass; Jeffrey Luong and Jason Eccles, tenors from the chorus; Anthony Anzano, a bass from the vocal jazz chorus; and John Genzale, a baritone from the mixed chorus.

A number of students were chosen from the band, including Robyn Beeber, who plays the french horn; Joanne Chun and Anna Yoo, both flautists; and Joseph DiPaola, who plays the mallets. Students chosen from the orchestra included violinist Dawn Kim, cellist Subin Heo, and Michael Mahoney, who plays the snare drum.

Students from MacArthur High School include trumpet and coronet player Casey Butcher, viola player Whitney Sun, and Mackenzie Zorn, who is a soprano from the women's chorus.

The All-County Festival is set to take place throughout the day on January 16, 2016, at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts at Long Island University - Post.
