Levittown lights up for the holidays

After going dark for seven years due to budget cuts, the Holiday Lights Spectacular in Jones Beach, near Levittown, is returning this November to celebrate the holiday season for the second year in a row.

The light show has an extreme sports theme this season and will feature Santa, his elves, and reindeer participating in a variety of stunts and extreme sports, such as ziplining and inner tubing. Although the extreme sports theme will be the highlight of the 2.5-mile show, there will be a number of more traditional displays thrown into the mix, too.

The organizers of the show can use Holiday Cards to get the word out to people on Long Island before the Spectacular opens on November 20. While the lights might be the main attraction, a number of other festive events will be happening at the show. A Holiday Village will be set up, complete with a visit from Santa Claus, performances by local school choirs, and a hay maze.

Tickets for the show are $20 per car on weekdays and $25 per car on weekends and holidays. There are special rates for larger vans, school buses, and coach buses. A Groupon is available for a discounted price for shows before December 30. Although the show is open through January 3, it will be closed on a number of days, including December 1, 7, 8, 14, and 31.
