They say laughter is the best medicine, and the Long Island Brain Tumor Walk Team hopes that proves to be true as it puts together a comedy fundraiser to raise money for the National Brain Tumor Society.
Cal's Crusaders, a Long Island Brain Tumor Walk Team, is putting together the event. The team formed in the memory of Cal Kitay, who passed away at the age of 66 from a grade 4 glioblastoma in 2012. It came together to participate in the first ever Long Island Brain Tumor Walk in 2014.
Groups organizing fundraising events can use poster printing to advertise and let people know the details. Tickets for the comedy fundraiser are $20, which will go to the National Brain Tumor Society. There will also be a basket and a 50/50 raffle during the event to benefit the society.
The event is for people over the age of 18. There will also be a two-item minimum order per person during the fundraiser.
The National Brain Tumor Society regularly hosts events such as runs and walks to raise awareness of brain cancer and to develop a community for those living with the disease. The upcoming Long Island Brain Tumor Walk is scheduled to take place at Jones Beach on September 15.
Before that, the fundraiser evening will take place at Governor's Comedy Club on Division Avenue in Levittown on August 12 at 7:00 pm. The doors to the event will open at 5:30 pm and attendees are asked to arrive by 6:30 pm.
