Three new restaurants in Hicksville feature food items that will appeal to customers who wish to follow a halal diet, but who also enjoy typical American fast food.
Crown Fried Chicken, which is in the Kundan Galleria shopping center at the corner of Bethpage Road and North Broadway, is part of a halal chain, and just opened.
Crown's menu, as might be expected, concentrates on chicken, which it sells in amounts ranging from two to twenty-one pieces. The restaurant also offers chicken sandwiches, fried-fish hero sandwiches, hamburgers, and chicken sandwiches.
Desi Fire Grill is located near Crown, and offers halal Tex-Mex items such as quesadillas, burritos, and tacos, in addition to the Indian dish of kati rolls.
Also offering halal foods is Dante's Pizzeria. The menu looks the same as any other pizza place, but all its meats, including sausage, pepperoni, and ham are made from beef.
The term ‘halal’ is the Arabic word for ‘permissible’. Meat that is certified ‘halal’ cannot be from an animal such as a pig, nor can it be a banned cut. In addition, the slaughter of the animal has to be carried out under strict guidelines.
New eateries like these often choose to work with a flyer printing company, which can create a handout to explain their Menus and distributes it near the store.
