After two years of wondering what's going to happen to property formerly occupied by Bristol-Myers, Buffalo residents got an answer - half of it will be developed for student housing; the other half will be used by Regional Integrated Logistics.
The housing will be built by a North Carolina company, but Regional Integrated Logistics, a distribution and warehousing company based in North Buffalo, will take the rest.
Regional will move into approximately 220,000 square feet of a warehouse facility, as well as some 10 acres of land. The property is located at 100 Forest Avenue, and Regional will have a 10-year lease with an option to buy any time during that period.
Robert E. Bingel Jr., CEO of Regional, said the property was the best available warehouse space he has seen, and he knew immediately it would work well for the company.
Regional Integrated Logistics handles shipping between New York City and Buffalo, and currently works out of facilities on Kenmore Avenue. The company is growing and serves a list of varied clients, from local beverage and food distributors to Fortune 500 corporations. It currently has a 350,000 square foot warehouse at which it handles general merchandise, as well as foodstuffs, and it runs a fleet of 50 semitrailers and 30 tractors in the area within an 800-mile radius of the city.
Regional could work with a flyer printing company to create a mailer for Buffalo residents announcing the move and reassuring them the property will be developed responsibly.
