In Seattle, Washington, in 1973, musicians from other groups got together to form Heart. The core members were Howard Leese, Michael Derosier, Nancy Wilson, Ann Wilson, Steven Fossen, and Roger Fisher. This was the band’s lineup when, in 2013, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The band was most popular in the 1970s and mid-to-late 1980s, and into the 1990s. They put songs in the Top 40 on a regular basis with hits like “Barracuda” and “Magic Man.” They have sold more than 50 million records globally, and been nominated for four Grammys, and have been placed on several esteemed rock lists.
Meanwhile, Bun E. Carlos, Robin Zander, Tom Petersson, and Rick Nielsen were the founding members of Cheap Trick, created in 1973 in Rockford, Illinois. Blending guitar pop, hard rock, and punk rock, the band created a model for later power pop groups. Their 1979 album “At Budokan” was their entry into the mainstream, and in 2016, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
