Counting Crows first got together in the San Francisco area in 1991, at which time they were an acoustic duo comprising David Bryson on guitar, and Adam Duntz. They wanted to make demo records, so they added drummer Steve Bowman, keyboard wizard Charlie Gillingham, and Matt Malley on bass to form the first iteration of the group.
The band reached a turning point in 1993, when they stepped in for Van Morrison at the Induction Ceremony at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. That same year, Geffen Records signed them, and released “August and Everything After.” To support the album, they toured with the Cranberries, Los Lobos, and Bob Dylan, and had the satisfaction of seeing the single “Mr. Jones” explode onto the airwaves. The album itself remained on the charts for 93 weeks, which led to a tour with the Rolling Stones.
They added Dan Vickrey on guitar and Ben Mize on drums, and released their second album, 1995’s “Recovering the Satellites,” which hit No. 1. They had their song “Accidentally in Love” used on the soundtrack of “Shrek 2.” A review says:

Counting Crows will be at the Buffalo Outer Harbor on July 9. When concerts like this are planned, organizers will often work with poster printing to create advertising.
