An upcoming concert in Buffalo will feature talking fish.

Pink Talking Fish is, in fact, a tribute band for three great groups: Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, and Phish. However, the tribute group does more than recreate the original acts, it has found a way to combine them into something new.

Each of the bands has a unique style, but Pink Talking Fish has found a way to fuse their work to create a hybrid. They use Pink Floyd’s intense emotion, and couple it with Talking Heads’ danceable, funky style, and add in the pure fun, numerous styles, and complex structures of Phish to create something entirely their own.

Part of the fun for fans is ferreting out the connections among the band. They may be delighted to find “On the Run” by Pink Floyd dropped into the middle of “You Enjoy Myself” by Phish, or discovering that “Sand” by Phish somehow works well with “Slippery People” by Talking Heads.

The current lineup of Pink Talking Fish is Cal Kehoe on guitar, drummer Zack Burwick, Stephen Learson and Richard James on keyboards, and bassist Eric Gould. Pink Talking Fish has been founded by musicians who are passionate fans of the original bands. Because they are always evolving, no two performances are the same.

Pink Talking Fish will be at the Buffalo Iron Works on April 6. Organizers of concerts like this often use poster printing to help promote them.
