Andrew Bird is a classically trained violinist, and his grounding gave him a gift for blending European and American folk music with calypso, swing, and jazz developing a distinct style. After releasing his first album, “Music of Hair,” as a solo artist, he left that path and began playing with other bands.
He joined with the Squirrel Nut Zippers to record three albums, which were moderately successful. He also released three albums as the leader of his own project “Bowl of Fire,” but could not gain traction until he performed as a solo artist when his bandmates had to cancel. He received such a positive reception he decided to go solo in 2003.
He released “Andrew Bird & The Mysterious Production of Eggs” in 2005. The album presented an indie-folk style, featuring a variety of instruments Bird played himself. Fat Possum Records signed him in 2006 and released “Armchair Apocrypha.” This album’s success led to appearances on high-profile shows such as “The Late Show with David Letterman.” A review says:

Andrew Bird will appear at the Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo on April 7. Performances like this are enhanced when organizers use poster printing to create advertisements to support them.
