For the fourth year in a row, the Miró Quartet is coming to Buffalo to participate in a two-day residency in cooperation with the Williamsville Central School District.
During this time, the Quartet will work with students from Williamsville High School, and take part in the University of Buffalo's Slee Visiting Artist Series.
The first day of the residency, quartet members will work with students, and that night, they will take part in a free concert. The program that first evening will feature high school students from the three schools in Williamsville, who will play a work by themselves, and then join the Quartet for a second piece.
The finale will be the very popular ‘Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis’ by Ralph Vaughn Williams, and will be played by students from all the schools, as well as the Quartet. The concert will be under the baton of Rachel Lauber, who is the director of the University of Buffalo Symphony Orchestra.
On the second day, the Quartet performs as part of the Visiting Artist Series. Students will perform pre-concert music.
The first day of the residency is November 2, with the concert that evening at Williamsville North High School scheduled for 7:00 pm. The second day, November 3, the concert starts at 7:30 pm on the University of Buffalo North Campus, in Lippes Concert Hall, which is in Slee Hall. The pre-show concert begins at 7:00 pm.
