Metalachi, obviously, is a combination of “metal” and “Mariachi,” with perhaps some tequila mixed in. The band has been together for over a decade, from their beginnings is Los Angeles to tours throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. On the road, they have played local bars to major events including Monsters of Rock Cruise, Megacruise, and Heavy Montreal.
The band is originally from East Los Angeles, with members who had training as classical Mariachis. Their rendition of the story says that at a party someone decided they should play “Iron Man” by Ozzy Osbourne in Mariachi style just for the fun of it. The result was so much fun and so clever they renamed themselves Metalachi, which one reviewer calls:
“. . . the most So-Cal thing that has ever happened.”
As the group came together, Queen Kyla Vera, a dynamic violinist, joined and the lineup was complete. A review says:
“As always, a fantastic show. The arrangements they do turning classic metal into sometimes danceable mariachi is absolutely mind-blowing. They mix it up between more melodic hair-metal (e.g. Europe) and the really heavy stuff (e.g. Slayer).”
Metalachi will be at the Buffalo Iron Works on August 29. Colorful Posters are often used to publicize events like this. Organizers can have these created at Print shops.
